California Performance Review

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, in his Executive Order of February 10, 2004, created the California Performance Review to conduct a focused examination and assessment of California state government.  On August 3, the California Performance Review released its report - Government for the People for a Change - on reforming California's state government, with the aim of making it more efficient and more responsive to its citizens.  The Report makes more than 1,000 recommendations aimed at reorganizing state government and changing a range of state policies.  Child care issues are covered in Chapter 2 of the report under the Children's Services portion of the Health and Human Services Section.
